Tom Holmes is calling for more of the same from the Featherstone faithful as the Rovers continue preparations ahead of this weekend’s Betfred Championship battle with Leigh Centurions.

The War of The Roses comes to the LD Nutrition Stadium from 6pm on Saturday and Holmes has heaped praise on the support him and his team-mates have enjoyed this year.

Attendances are up by close to 10% on last season - on home soil - and playmaker Holmes says Rovers fans can make all the difference as Featherstone go in search of a vital two points against Leigh.

“We were fairly pleased with our performance against Hull last time out, we gave it a good go and our supporters responded brilliantly,” said Holmes, who is sponsored by Vape Dudes UK.

“Our fans have been absolutely fantastic this year and have really got behind us. We need more of the same this weekend as Leigh fans travel well.

“We let ourselves down during the first half last Thursday but finished strongly and are looking to build on that going into Saturday against Leigh.

“Leigh are in great form and have turned themselves around since the start of the season.

“Both teams have improved but Leigh are on a long winning run and will be doing everything possible to extend it.

“It is going to be a very different type of game compared to the last one we played, at their place, and we will need to go up a gear in order to get the two points.

“It is tight at the top and everyone is pushing hard for a place in the Qualifiers. We want to put on a good show for the fans and kick on going into what will be a tough game at the Summer Bash.”

Meanwhile, England will kick-off their university test series against New Zealand in a curtain-raiser from 2.15pm on Saturday.

Gates open at 1pm and tickets purchased will be valid for both fixtures.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are priced at £20 (adults), £15 (concessions) and £5 (juniors). However, by purchasing before 5pm today (Friday), supporters can save £2 on adult and concession admission prices.
