The BBC has also selected two quarter-finals for live coverage the following weekend, both on Saturday September 19.

Wigan Warriors against the winners of the Castleford-Hull FC tie will be shown live on BBC Two at 5pm.

Venues for the three ties, and details of the remaining last eight meetings – Leeds Rhinos versus Hull Kingston Rovers, and the winners of today’s Catalans Dragons versus Wakefield Trinity tie against Salford Red Devils – are yet to be confirmed.

The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday October 3, and the final for Saturday October 17 – again, with venues to be confirmed as soon as possible.

RFL’s chief commercial officer Mark Foster said: “Flexibility has been key throughout the various challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic to all sport this year, and the Coral Challenge Cup is no exception.

“We are grateful to our sponsors, to the BBC, and to the clubs involved for recognising the need for that flexibility, as we all work towards providing the best possible climax for the game’s historic knockout competition, in the sport’s 125th year.”
