Featherstone Lions coach Jamie Rooney is plotting the downfall of one of his former clubs.
Lions have a home Ladbrokes Challenge Cup third round tie on the weekend of February 27-28 against Kingstone Press League One club South Wales Scorpions, for whom Rooney played in 2012.
Amateur side Lions, who play in National Conference League Division One, will aim to pull off an upset against a team two divisions above them.
Scorpions head coach Phil Carleton said: “Featherstone is the heart of Rugby League country and I know that Jamie Rooney will have coached his side well. We’re going to have to work hard if we’re to get through to the fourth round.”
NCL Premier Division side Lock Lane visit Oxford in the third round.
Lane have qualified for the professional stage of the competition 17 times since 1958.
