Local teams involved in draw for 2013 Challenge Cup qualifying rounds

THE draw for the 2013 Challenge Cup qualifying rounds took place today at Carrwood Park in Leeds at a meeting of the Rugby Football League (RFL) Community Board.

A number of local teams were among the 57 community sides in the hat for the two rounds, which were drawn by Damian Clayton MBE, the representative for the Armed Forces on the Community Board, and Martyin Coyd, the Tier 4 repsentative.

There will be a local derby in the first qualifying round with Featherstone Lions hosting Stanley Rangers.

Eastmoor Dragons will entertain Loughborough University, Dewsbury Celtic will also have a home tie against Ovenden but both Castleford Panthers and Lock Lane will face away trips to Bank Quay Bulls and Blackbrook respectively.

Normanton Knights host York Acorn, Hunslet Old Boys entertain St Marys University and Hunslet Warriors welcome Wigan St Judes.

The matches will be played on the weekend of October 27-28.

The draw for the second qualifying round, to be played on the weekend of November 3-4, also took place and is: Bradford Dudley Hill or Bonymaen Broncos v Eastmoor Dragons or Loughborough University, Northumbria University or Milford Marlins v Dewsbury Celtic or Ovenden, Rochdale Mayfield or University of Hull v Bank Quay Bulls or Castleford Panthers, Shaw Cross Sharks or Pilkington Recs v Featherstone Lions or Stanley Rangers, Warrington Wizards or British Police v Blackbrook or Castleford Lock Lane, Underbank Rangers or Heworth v Leeds Metropolitan University or Elland, Normanton Knights or York Acorn v Hunslet Old Boys or St Marys University, East Leeds or Drighlington v Hunslet Warriors or Wigan St Judes, Stanningley or Widnes West Bank v Kells or Egremont Rangers, Askam or Millom v Bristol Sonics or Eccles.

Three Armed Services teams and 14 Conference League Premier teams will enter the competition at a later stage.
