Despite scoring five tries Lock Lane were edged out by Thornhill Trojans in Kingstone Press Nat-ional Conference Division One.

In a cracking game, the Castleford-based side led 18-14 at half-time, but could never quite shrug off the Trojans.

Thornhill opened the scoring thanks to a great run by Danny Ratcliffe, with George Woodcock converting. But Lock Lane quickly turned it round with two quickfire tries from Tom Newbould and Lewis Price, both converted by Connor Turner.

Winger Joss Ratcliffe dived over for the visitors only for Craig Savage to seize the opportunity to cross for a try. Turner converted, but Woodcock’s individual effort kept the game tight at the break.

An opportunist effort by Jordan Lowther saw Thornhill regain the lead in the second half.

Again Lane came back, Connor Land selling a dummy and darting over straight from a scrum. Turner converted.

Thornhill scored again with Sam Ratcliffe’s converted try and they sealed victory when Danny Ratcliffe went over, although Lock Lane had the last word with a try at the death through Adam Rothwell.

Turner converted but they were out of time.
