Methley Royals ARLFC have asked to be withdrawn from the Pennine League.

The loss recently of several players for various reasons, including retirement, injury and departures to professional clubs, has left Methley short-handed for the Pennine League’s First Division.

The Royals now intend to develop their young players over the coming months in the Yorkshire Men’s League’s Merit League, which starts in May, with a pre-season competition in March.

Methley’s scheduled Pennine League fixture at Dalton on Saturday has been cancelled.
