Castleford Panthers under 14s gave their best performance of the season to lift Yorkshire Junior Challenge Cup with a 50-20 win over Hunslet Warriors in Saturday’s final at Featherstone’s Big Fellas Stadium.
Panthers dominated from the start and went ahead when Cameron Smith converted his own try.
Hunslet hit back but Panthers regained control with Smith’s second touchdown and then cut loose to inflict the Warriors’ biggest defeat. Forward Smith finished with four tries and full-back Will Dagger bagged two.
Jamie Longstaff and Corey Southern also crossed before captain Lewis Atack completed the scoring by supporting a break from Grant Newby. All the Panthers players earned top marks as they stuck to the game plan from the coaching team of Shaun Hudson and Neil Douglas.
Forwards Travis Fisher, Bradley Stokes, Newby, George Hudson, Longstaff and Smith worked non stop.
Half-backs Lewis Atack and Cameron Worsley were at their creative best. Backs Dagger, Dillan Tucker, Cameron Taylor, Brandon Wilson and Southern were a constant threat.
Joe Turner, Joe Jordan, Aaron Barlow, Rhys Garnham and Jack Millward all made big impacts.
