Title-chasers Allerton bag fourth win on spin

ALLERTON Bywater eased to a 52-16 win against Cutsyke Raiders in Yorkshire Men’s League Division Three.

Allerton have won their first four games and are level on points at the top with Ossett Trinity Tigers, with a game in hand.

Cutsyke’s try scorers were Jonathan Harvey, Jake Dickinson, Craig Wilson and Ste Hayes.

Hayes won Cutsyke’s MOM award followed by Dan Bourne and James Allen who made his first team debut by stepping up from the under 16s.

Featherstone Lions lost 46-0 at Stanningley Academy in Alliance League Two.

This Saturday, Knottingley Worms visit West Hull, Cutsyke host Crigglestone All Blacks, Allerton Bywater travel to Farnley Falcons and Featherstone Lions make the trip to Dewsbury Moor Maroons.

Methley Royals were beaten 72-10 at home by a strong New Earswick All Blacks team in Saturday’s Yorkshire Men’s League Entry League match.

Jake Ward and Joel Brown were Methley’s try scorers and Josh Ward kicked one conversion.

New Earswick, who are top of the division with two wins from two games, were always in control.

Jack Stearman and Sean Malarkey scored hat-tricks. Matt Cannon and Ben Stoker bagged a brace apiece and Elliot Morton, Joe Hnesh and Mickey Horton also crossed. Connor Caylem added 10 goals.

Methley’s next scheduled fixture is at home to Worth Village on Saturday, June 17.

The Royals will celebrate their 10th anniversary later this year with a match between the team that played Swillington on Saturday, September 8, 2007, and the present-day side.

The game – the brainchild of several members of that pioneering team - will take place on Saturday, September 9, at the Royals’ ground at Savile Park, with celebrations afterwards at Methley WMC (the Top Club).

Methley are keen to hear from any of the 2007 squad who have not already been in touch.
