Top young players receive awards

Featherstone Rovers captain Tim Spears and Huddersfield Giants player Larne Patrick were thanked for giving up their time to present the awards.

The main award winners were: Coaches player: Lewis Arter. Coaches merit: Liam Gee. Most improved: Luke Windus. First place in both the parents and players’ player awards went to Sam Wroe, who was also nominated for the Lions’ Jim Bell award.

George Horsman ran Wroe close in the parents’ and players’ awards, coming in second place.

Joint third place in the parents player award went to Jack Stead, George Constantine (who was also nominated for the Lions Tiddler Simpson award), Luke Windus and Callum Cunningham. Joint third place in players’ player accolade went to Sonny Lynch, Archie Calverley, Callum Cunningham and Liam Gee.

Owen Baxter won the trainer of the year accolade.

The team thanked all parents, friends and family for their generous donations of raffle prizes, along with Neil Stead of Sporty Stuff and The Kings Croft Hotel, Farmgate (Carcroft) and Stuart Norris for their kind donations.

The amount raised on the evening was a massive £268.

Lions also thanked Sara Walters for all the hard work and committment she has put in for five years as parent representative.
