WAKEFIELD TRINITY Wildcats have completed a swap deal involving past and future Leeds Rhinos players.
Anthony Mullally – who will join Rhinos next season – has moved to Wakefield from Huddersfield until the end of the current campaign, with fellow prop Daniel Smith switching the other way.
Smith, who was an academy player at Leeds before spending a season playing in Australia, signed for Wakefield ahead of the 2014 campaign, but has joined Giants on a long-term deal until the end of 2019.
The two clubs have also agreed an undisclosed fee for Smith, 22, who could make his Huddersfield debut away to Catalans Dragons on Saturday.
Wildcats chairman Michael Carter said: “Anthony is coming in to give us some extra strength in the middle.
“I am sad to see Daniel go, we took a bit of a punt on him when he came back from Australia, but he has done a good job for us and I wish him well for the future.
“I think he will go well at the Giants and we’re looking forward to having Anthony here for the rest of the season.
“We have a very good relationship with the Giants and it was a really easy deal to resolve once we stared talking over the weekend.”
Giants managing director Richard Thewlis said: “With Anthony having decided to move on longer term from the club a deal was struck to the end of the year which suited all.”
