Sir Bradley Wiggins to compete in Tour de Yorkshire

Sir Bradley Wiggins has confirmed he will compete in the first ever Tour de Yorkshire.

The 2012 Tour de France winner revealed he will ride at the helm of his new UK based Team Wiggins.

Starting on Friday, May 1 the Tour de Yorkshire takes place in three stages and the final stage will start in Wakefield on Sunday, May 3.

Stage one will begin in Bridlington and finishes in Scarborough.

Stage two will start in Selby and finish in York, while the third stage begins in Wakefield and will finish in Leeds.

Mr Wiggins did not ride in the 2014 Tour de France, which started in Yorkshire, after he was left out by Team Sky.
