Kylinn Vardhan hit a century as Townville forged further ahead in their quest for the Premier Division title in the Central Yorkshire League.

A commanding 141-run win at Ossett enabled Nick Bresnan’s men to move two points further clear as they claimed a maximum haul while rivals Methley could only take four points from their match at Hunslet Nelson.

Townville were soon in control against Ossett with opener Tim Walton and Vardhan combining for a 169-run stand for the second wicket.

Walton fell eight runs short of his century, after hitting 13 fours and two sixes, while Vardhan went on to make 108, including 18 fours and a six.

With Jack Hughes hitting 27 and Connor Harvey 22 Townville were able to reach 302-7 from their 50 overs.

Ossett were never in the hunt and were all out for 161 with Harvey taking 4-21 and Hughes 3-34.

Methley warmed up for their cup final with a strong batting display against Hunslet Nelson, but their failure to bowl their opponents out cost them two valuable points.

Openers Nick Connolly and Richard Foster batted for almost 42 overs in a partnership of 185 before the latter fell six runs short of his century, having hit 13 fours and two sixes.

Connolly did go on to his ton, ending on 112 not out with 12 fours and a six, with Methley finishing on 247-3.

Hunslet then frustrated their visitors by batting out their full 50 overs to make 182-8 with Jack Rich (3-46) and Mick Waite (3-75) the pick of the Methley bowlers.

Methley A lost by seven wickets to Scholes in Division One after being bowled out for 92 with Greg Johnson (34) top scoring.

Townville A batted out their overs to frustrate Buttershaw St Pauls in Division Two, but lost by 51 runs.

They made 207-9 with Ryan Kelsey hitting 83, Steve Walton 59 and Matthew Hughes 25. But this was in reply to 258 when Kelsey had also starred with the ball, taking 4-71, and Hughes claimed 3-43.
