Captain David Wainwright led from the front as Castleford made short work of beating Bolton Percy in the Hunters York Senior League Premier Division.
The former Yorkshire and Derbyshire player showed his all-round ability as he followed up a half century with the bat by taking five wickets with the ball in an 113-run success.
Castleford were put in and made a solid start with stands of 42 and 30 for the first two wickets. A little blip that followed Liam Hyde’s dismissal for 42 and Eddie Cole for 13 left them 73-3, but Wainwright and Zaid Javid (19) put on 52 for the fourth wicket and the latter then joined with Connor Hyde (16).
Wainwright was eventually out for 50, having hit six fours and a six and Castleford were all out for 178 in the 45th over.
Bolton Percy started their reply well enough, but from 28 without loss they collapsed to 65 all out as Wainwright took 5-5 from four overs and was backed up by Amir Ditta (3-21), Connor Hyde (1-25) and Jack Young (1-0).
Castleford’s game against Malton & Norton was abandoned on Monday after Malton had reached 201-7 in 43 overs with Connor Fisher taking three wickets and Wainwright two.
Castleford Seconds beat Copmanthorpe by 39 runs in Division Three Ebor after making 176 with Arron Grant (40) and Darren Tomlinson (40) top scoring.
Copmanthorpe made 137-9 in reply, Fisher taking 3-22 and Vani 3-29.
Despite 47 from Luke Edwards Castleford under 19s lost a Yorkshire North T20 game by 76 runs as they were all out for 108 in reply to 184-3.
