Resurgent Castleford boast the longest current winning streak in the Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North after making it five victories on the spin on Saturday.
A century and three wickets from David Wainwright inspired his side’s latest success as they beat Scarborough by 81 runs at North Marine Road.
The Castleford skipper went in as opener and made 120 not out from a total of 223, hitting 12 fours and two sixes in his outstanding innings.
Support came from Liam Hyde with 43 while last pair Eddie Morrison (22) and Matthew Clegg (12) added some useful late runs.
Ben Elvidge (5-35) and Sam Drury (3-42) shared the majority of the wickets for the home side.
Openers James Pick (36) and Darren Harland (41) provided a positive start to Scarborough’s reply before the innings subsided with Drury (34) the only other batsman to reach double figures.
Morrison led the wicket taking with 4-49 while Wainwright finished with 3-21 and Matthew Rees 2-38.
Castleford’s second team was involved in a rare tie as they took on Drax in the Hunters York Senior League’s Division Three Ebor.
Both teams scored 205 in a closely fought match with Castleford batting first and making their total for the loss of four wickets.
Gopi Chemudupati top scored with 56 while Jack Young contributed 43, Nigel Ling 32 and Brian Phillips 31 not out. Drax’s reply saw them end on 205-8 with Young taking 4-41 and Martin Gibson 2-43.
