YORKSHIRE Carnegie earned their first win in the Friends Life Twenty20 on Sunday, defeating Leicestershire Foxes by 22 runs on Sunday.

The bounced back in style following Friday’s narrow defeat in their opening game to Durham.

Cleckheaton’s Andrew Gale top scored with a brisk 70 as he shared a record opening wicket stand of 116 with Phil Jaques.

South African David Miller made 30 not out as Yorkshire reached 170-4 from their 20 overs.

Ossett’s Rich Pyrah claimed 2-24 from three overs in reply and with Australian Mitchell Starc (3-26) and Ryan Sidebottom (2-25) also impressing Leicester were dismissed for 148.

Gale takes his Yorkshire side to Derbyshire tonight in a match to be televised live on Sky Sports.
