Fifteen-year-old Gosney, a member of St Michael’s Snooker Club, has really upped his game recently and the high breaks have been flying in at the Wakefield club.

Those breaks culminated in his first ever total clearance of 129 and that kind of form has been rewarded with the England team call-up.

He has also secured his English Premier Tour place for next season and his coach, Anthony Hebblethwaite, who reached an English final only last season, understands the importance of Harry’s current achievements.

He said: “The Junior Tour is the highest calibre tour of its nature in England.

“The highest accolade an amateur sportsman can achieve is to represent his country.

“All the progress is there to see.

“The next few months and the preparation Harry puts in will shape his snooker future.”
