Sundays are country music days at the Black Horse in Wakefield – and there’s one very special event which should get everyone’s feet tapping!

The Sunday Sesh events at the hugely popular pub have been running for eight years and now everyone is gearing up for an anniversary day of music, fun and frolics.

One of Wakefield’s finest, country musician Matt Hodges, hosts the Sunday Sesh sessions, and he’ll be there again on this special anniversary event on Sunday June 25 from 2pm.

The Black Horse is pulling out all the stops to make sure this particular Sunday Sesh will be well-worthy of the anniversary.

The feisty Wakefield Trinity Ladies RL team will be there, rubbing shoulders with the punters and enjoying the country-inspired, weekly live music session.

There will be plenty of room to show off your own country & western vibe in the Black Horse’s marquee which proudly sits in the biggest beer garden in Wakefield.

The theme won’t be hard to miss, as there will be country music-style décor to bring a real fun feel to the Sunday Sesh.

And if you fancy donning your own country & western outfit, then you won’t go unnoticed. Even better, your stylish efforts may be rewarded, as the best-dressed revellers will win free brunch tickets.

What’s more, the professional photographer who will be there to capture the anniversary vibe may also capture your winning dress sense.

The Sunday Sesh is the longest running live music event in Wakefield and Matt – who has been making his mark on the UK country music scene for the last 10 years – will host and introduce other country jamming musicians.

Give them a cheer and a mighty roar – especially Matt, as it’s his birthday!

There will be special drinks, with two-for-£5 on selected shots and other offers on selected spirits. And there’s a free supper, what’s not to love!

If you love music then there’s more than just the Sunday Sesh to look forward to at the Black Horse.

The After Work Club brings some much-needed relaxation time every Wednesday and Thursday from 5.30pm, with free live music. There’s also a Happy Hour between 4-7pm.

If you’re peckish, there’s the fabulous Wine & Pizza Wednesdays from 4pm.
