His wife, Rebecca, who works at the hospice inspired him to raise funds during lockdown, as the charity is close to the couple’s hearts.

Allan said: “Being restrained for 24 hours will be tough, it will be very uncomfortable both physically and mentally and panic may set in.

“As an escape artist, my job is to get out of restraints as quickly as I possibly can, so staying in handcuffs for this long will be an interesting challenge.”

Allan set his donation target to an initial £500 on his justgiving page, he has since raised nearly £800.

Those who donate to Allan’s cause can set him mini challenges to do throughout the 24 hour period.

Some of the challenges set so far include riding a bike, walking on glass, cutting the grass and going to Wikes as a customer to ask for a hacksaw - all while his hands are in cuffs.

He will broadcast highlights of his challenge on a Facebook Live Stream for all to see.

Allan said: “My friend, Jake Bullet, from The Doncaster Restraint Museum came up with the idea to wear handcuffs for 24 hours.

“He assured me that these handcuffs will be impossible to open without a key.

“The key will be behind glass, with a timer set that will only open after the 24 hours is up, I can break the glass just in case of an emergency.”

The challenge will begin on Friday July 17 at the Doncaster Restraint Museum, after the 24 hours is over, the cuffs will be removed at The Massage Academy in Normanton, where Allan will be awarded with a massage.

Allan said: “I’ll be ready for the massage when the 24 hours is up, with my arms being held in that Arms in that position for 24 hour, it will be restrictive.

“I’ll happily accept strange challenges throughout the 24 hours, obviously if they’re doable and adhere to the social distancing rules.

“I wanted to do something different to raise the funds, we need something out of the ordinary in these very strange times.”
