PREVIEW: Dick Whittington panto rocks up at Leeds City Varieties

Oh yes it is!

Rock ‘n’ Roll Pantos - from the enchanted pen of Peter Rowe - mix traditional audience participation and corny gags with a jukebox full of classic rock anthems and chart-toppers.

And they will be rocking The Varieties stage over Christmas 2022.

Dick Whittington is getting the rock and roll makeover at Leeds City Varieties, from this Friday, November 25, 2022 to Sunday, January 8, 2023.

Where else can you see the Fairy Godmother banging the drums and Pantomime Dame playing the sax?

The music is all performed live on stage by an ultra-talented cast of actor-musicians, including Kenny Davies and Simon Nock.

This laugh-out-loud panto with musical performances promises to be a highlight of the festive season

Pantomimes at City Varieties date back to at least the early 1940s, with today’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto being one of Leeds’ favourites.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto can be noisy, with pyrotechnics and flashing lights, plus some audience members may receive a minor drenching, resulting in outbreaks of festive mayhem.

The panto is not recommended for children under four years old, but if guests do want to bring toddlers, ear defenders are recommended, and they will be required to purchase a ticket for any child aged one upwards.
