The Kristian Borring Quartet opens the spring season at Wakefield Jazz on FridayApril 13 when they will be promoting their latest recording “live at the vortex”.

With the full line up appearing, the audience will hear a stunning performance from a well-honed unit on tour.

Kristian Borring’s skilled and eloquent guitar, no less than Rick Simpson on piano with the deep sounds of Dave Whitford’s bass all kept in rhythmic order by Jon Scott on the drums.

This quartet is a lyrical and relaxed band and will provide tight-knit modern interplay with varied improvisation and a laid back vibe alongside hard swing.

Wakefield Jazz promoter Chris de Saram says: “They are completely suited to the intimate atmosphere of Wakefield Jazz presenting confident, sophisticated work at every level; composition, arrangement and execution - every number will be a joy to listen to.”

For more than 30 years, Wakefield Jazz has been one of the premier jazz venues in the UK and it is still at the top of its game.

It has a friendly, atmospheric setting, one which jazz musicians enjoy playing and the benefit from.

First to be elected as “venue of the year” by the Parliamentary Jazz Awards, they have been nominated several times since.

Wakefield Jazz’s reputation is worldwide helping to attract top class international musicians every season.
