With less than a month to go until the Leeds Festival gates open, organisers have announced that headliner Simon Amstell will join the likes of big comedy names Bill Bailey, Milton Jones, Katherine Ryan and Mark Watson on the Alternative Stage at Bramham Park.
Described by The Evening Standard as “painfully funny”, Simon Amstell first came to prominence with shows like ‘Popworld’, ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ and created the award winning situation comedy ‘Grandma’s House’.
Amstell has toured to sell-out audiences around the UK, Ireland, Australia and the USA. Recently he recorded a special performance of ‘Numb’ at BBC Television Centre which was broadcast on BBC2 in the UK and on ABC in Australia. In 2015 he will be embarking on a new international tour “to be free.”
On top of the already huge line-up including headliners Queens Of The Stone Age, Paramore, Arctic Monkeys and Blink 182 the Alternative Stage hosts the best in comedy and alternative talent from the UK and beyond plus the annual after-hours takeover from Transgressive Records.
The famous stage bills some of the best in forward thinking comedy, spoken word and music, the 2014 line-up includes Adam Buxton, People Just Do Nothing, Jack and Dean, Kate Tempest, Reaps One, Beardyman, Hollie McNish and loads more!
On top of this, Transgressive’s annual takeover brings together another hotly anticipated late-night line-up to the Leeds Festival. The independent label is celebrating their 10th anniversary with a specially curated bill that includes multi-million, global pop megastar Kelis.
