A Castleford DJ has landed a prime-time slot on one of West Yorkshire’s biggest radio stations.

Daniel Mylonas, 23, started hosting his own weekday breakfast show on The Pulse last Monday.

He was promoted to the 6am-10am slot, which he presents with former Viking FM presenter Rosie Madison, from his former Pulse mid-morning show.

Danny, of Roman View, Castleford, said: “I’m over the moon to have got the breakfast show - breakfast is the big dog that everyone aims for.

“Now that people can access music anywhere I think radio has become more of an entertainment medium so I’m trying to do something different to make people want to keep listening. My show is basically just lots of tongue-in-cheek fun and taking the mick throughout.

“I’ve worked hard to get where I am so I’m pleased to have got the slot. The long-term aim is the biggest gig in radio - BBC Radio One breakfast - you’ve got to dream big!”

At just 14-years-old, Danny was one of the district’s best DJs, playing clubs and parties three times a week.

The former Pontefract King’s School pupil still DJs at Big Fellas night club in Pontefract every Saturday.

Having always dreamed of a career in radio, Danny became one of the youngest presenters when he started out at Dewsbury Hospital’s radio station in 2005.

Since then, he has worked at Radio Aire and Galaxy Radio, and has continued to DJ events and club nights across West Yorkshire, juggling his love of entertaining with school and later, a full-time job in banking.
