Leeds United have added to their forward options with the completion of a deal to sign Oxford United hot shot Kemar Roofe.

The Whites have paid a substantial, but undisclosed fee to capture the highly rated 23-year-old striker on a four-year deal.

Roofe won the League Two player of the year award last season and has become United’s sixth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Marcus Antonsson, Kyle Bartley, Hadi Sacko, Robert Green and Matt Grimes.

After finalising his move this morning he will now head to Ireland to join his new team-mates at their pre-season training camp.

He told the Leeds United website: “It’s an amazing feeling.

“I don’t think I’ll actually realise how big the club is until the first game of the season, but I’m amazed by what I’ve seen so far. “As soon as I found out, I was really pleased to be a part of a club like this.

“The club has a great history and a bright future as well.

“You can tell there’s something exciting happening here with the signings we’re making – they’re all good signings.

“I can’t wait to start getting to know the squad and playing football again.”

Roofe, born in Walsall, was a major player in Oxford’s promotion season in 2015-16 and also played at Wembley in the Football League Trophy final.

The former West Brom player scored 26 goals in 49 matches in all appearances last season and is being backed to help Leeds improve their goal tally.

He will join a strikeforce that already includes Chris Wood, Souleymane Doukara and new boy Antonsson as competition for places has hotted up at Elland Road.
