Plans to transform a Wakefield house into four studio apartments have been turned down, after planners said they would be too small.

The application to convert the end-terrace property on Balne lane into self-contained flats was put before Wakefield Council, but officers said it would create an “unsatisfactory living environment”.

Opinions that the changes would improve the site – with claims up to six people have lived in the property at one stage – were rejected by the planning officers.
