A fine knock from skipper David Wainwright played a key part as he hit 80 in his team’s 217-8 made from 50 overs.
Rain then meant Beverley could not bat for their full innings and they were given a revised target of 155 from 38 overs.

Connor Hyde was Castleford’s most succesful bowler with 2-39, but spinners Wainwright and Eddie Morrison did a good job in keeping the runs down as well as taking a wicket each.
In the Castleford innings they recovered from 60-4 to post their decent total with Wainwright hitting six fours and a six to lead the revival. Support came chiefly from Liam Hyde, whose 45 included seven boundaries.
Castleford seconds made it a double success as they beat Woodhouse Grange thirds by 28 runs in their Division Two Ebor game.

Prospects for a win did not look great as Castleford went in first and made 164, but a good effort in the field saw them bowl Woodhouse out for 136 as their middle order struggled following a decent start.
