Finals success for City of Wakefield swimmers in Yorkshire Championships

Swimmers need to have achieved strict entry times in order to compete at the championship and this long course event run over a number of weekends in February at John Charles Leisure Centre, in Leeds, and Ponds Forge, in Sheffield, is a key date in the swimming calendar.
The swimmers train hard to earn a place at these events and it is a fine achievement to reach finals in a competitive meet.

Hide AdJames Sharp: Third in 100m freestyle; seventh in 100m backstroke; 10th in 200m backstroke; and third in 50m freestyle.
Harrison Lee: Seventh in 200m backstroke; seventh in 400m IM; sixth in 800m freestyle.
Chris Barnett: Tenth in 200m breaststroke; ninth in 50m breaststroke.
Ella Burnett: Fifth in 100m butterfly; fourth in 50m butterfly.

Raygen Parkin: Tenth in 100m breaststroke; seventh in 50m backstroke.
Alex Holmes: Ninth in 100m freestyle; second in 50m freestyle.
Daniel Menzer: Ninth in 800m freestyle.
Faye Harper, Raygen Parkin, Ella Burnett and Daisy Ball: Sixth in 200m medley team.

City of Wakefield swimmers train at the Sun Lane Leisure Centre and Normanton Swimming Pool. They are coached to compete at galas at all levels of ability, local, county, regional and national competitions.
They also compete in the Barnsley Minors League, which gives many of the swimmers valuable opportunity to swim competitively as part of a team.
